Zakaj rišemo? Nikoli se nisem res poglabljala v to vprašanje. Skoraj naravno je, da začnemo risati že kot otroci. Ne poznam nikogar, ki ne bi nikoli potegnil čopiča ali barvice, ko je bil še malček. Seveda, ne vleče nas vse z enako vnemo – to je res. A smo tako radovedni, tako željni razumeti svet in sebe. Morda si tako močno želimo komunicirati, da rišemo, pojemo, plešemo… da izrazimo tisto, kar še ne znamo ubesediti.

Kasneje, v odrasli dobi, se stvari nekoliko izčistijo. Pišemo, govorimo, risanje postane bolj postransko – a pri nekaterih risanje še vedno ostaja.

Why do we draw? I’ve never really delved into this question. It feels almost natural to start drawing as children. I don’t know anyone who never picked up a brush or crayon when they were little. Of course, not all of us are equally drawn to it – that’s true. But we are so curious, so eager to understand the world and ourselves. Perhaps we feel such a strong need to communicate that we draw, sing, dance… to express what we don’t yet know how to put into words.

Later, in adulthood, things become somewhat more refined. We write, we speak, and drawing becomes more of a side activity – yet for some, it still remains.
